Central Taxis are Edinburgh’s largest, most reliable taxi company having served the city for more than 50 years. We have 420 fully wheelchair accessible 5 and 6 seat black cabs and a state of the art Call Centre open 24/7 365 days a year to assist with your booking and answer any questions.

Our award-winning company operates as a cooperative, and is owned and operated by more than 850 Members and Drivers from the local community.

Our drivers are fully vetted and licensed by Edinburgh Council, and have passed a detailed topographical test (the ‘Knowledge’), meaning they know the city better than anyone – so sit back and let a local expert take you were you need to be.

For safety and convenience all our drivers wear company uniform and ID badge and vehicles carry logos/vehicle numbers in front and back windscreens.

In 2011, Central Taxis became the UK’s first Carbon Neutral black taxi company. Through our partnership with the Carbon Footprint company we offset the emissions from every pre-booked journey through the purchase of carbon credits and investing in sustainability projects.
