Pickerings Gin

Pickering’s Gin Distillery Tour

Come and visit the home of Pickering’s Gin, Summerhall Distillery.

Pickering’s gin is based on an original recipe, handwritten on a fragment of paper dated 17 July 1947, and has been fine-tuned, perfecting its balance and tweaking it for today’s contemporary palate. The beautifully crafted small batch gin contains 9 botanicals including juniper, coriander, cardamom and fennel.

It was kept secret for 66 years, only resurfacing last year when the founders, Matthew Gammell and Marcus Pickering began distilling at Summerhall Distillery. Marcus Pickering, founder of Pickering’s Gin, said: “The idea has been brewing for around five years and with the growing trend, popularity and resurgence of gin, now seemed the ideal time to introduce Pickering’s Gin to market.” As a senior butler at the exclusive Scottish retreat, Skibo Castle, Marcus’s love for gin began when he mixed cocktails and took local distillery tours. His name is now a stamp of approval on the bottles.

Come and see where our handcrafted, small batch gin is made. We’ll take you through a potted history of gin and introduce you to Gert, our custom built copper still. You’ll explore the nine botanicals that go into this marvellously mixed gin, sample the finished product and end the tour with a perfectly poured Pickering’s and Tonic.

Under 18s are welcome on the tour, but will not be able to sample or purchase alcohol.
