Located at the foot of Arthur’s Seat – an extinct volcano in the heart of Edinburgh - a visit to Dynamic Earth is like nothing else on Earth. You'll be embarking on the interactive adventure of a lifetime - the lifetime of our planet.

Travel back to the beginning of time in our Deep Time Machine and witness the Big Bang first hand. Rocket through the universe in a spaceship travelling billions of times faster than the speed of light and see stars explode on the other side of the galaxy. Feel the ground shudder as a molten lava flow speeds straight towards you and volcanoes throw clouds of ash and gas into the sky. The Polar ice caps are brought to within your reach giving you the chance to touch an iceberg for yourself. You can see your breath, smell the cold and feel your hands turning numb as you stand beneath the Aurora Borealis. Fly high above ice cold glaciers and marvel at their power as they carve out entire continents. From your dizzying height it’ll feel so real you could almost be there before your soar from the sky and dive beneath the ocean. You can even experience a real rain-storm in our Tropical Rainforest gallery! On a visit to Dynamic Earth you will experience the primeval forces of nature as they shaped our planet - journey through space and time and even go on a 4DVENTURE around the world.

This year, we are also celebrating 50 years since the Apollo Moon landings, and we have a plethora of awesome additional activities lined up for our visitors throughout the coming months, beginning with our space themed family event on the 28th May. This special evening will premier our new “Destination Moon” program which tells the epic story of humanity’s first voyage to another world… Watch explosive rocket launches, zoom across the lunar surface on a VR moon buggy and even create your own astronaut mission patch badge to take home! To top off the evening, grab some popcorn and a free drink, and head to our Show Dome to experience the moon landings in spectacular 360 degree surround-sound, in our brand new film “CapCom Go!”

This immersive planetarium movie showcases the achievements of the Apollo programme and what it took to put the first human on the Moon. We can't wait to introduce a new generation to the immense challenges they overcame. Experience films as you've never seen - or felt them - before in Edinburgh’s only 360 degree cinema, with its digital full-dome technology and thunderous surround sound – “CapCom Go” is now showing daily in our Show Dome, please check our online schedule for specific times!

The UK Space industry needs to double its workforce over the next decade to meet the ever growing demand – that is 30,000 new space jobs! Our Destination Space programme aims to inspire families with school-age children and convey the message that careers in space science are achievable and available here in the UK as well as sharing exciting new developments in space exploration Throughout the year, we will run drop-in activities on top deck, family science shows, meet-the-scientist events, special dome nights, Dino’s Dynamos weekend workshops, sleepovers, schools workshops and outreach all as part of the programme, and there will be lots of opportunities for all our guests to get involved with these events. Dynamic Earth has a world of incredible experiences right here in the heart of Edinburgh!
